Jessica Lee Gagné is a director known for her precise handling of both camera and story. Drawing from her beginnings in cinematography, she approaches directing with a strong command of image, atmosphere, and tone, crafting narratives that are both visually rigorous and deeply felt across film and television. Gagné’s feature debut as cinematographer, Sarah Likes to Run (dir. Chloé Robichaud), was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, marking the beginning of a career that bridges art-house cinema and prestige television. She shot the majority of Apple TV+’s Severance, helping define its now-iconic visual language. In Season 2, she made her directorial debut with the episode “Chikhai Bardo,” which was widely praised as one of the show’s most striking and emotionally resonant installments. The episode earned Gagné an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Gagné directed a recent campaign for Instacart. She is based in Los Angeles and Montreal.
